Our Story
South Gisborne Tennis Club is a community-based, family-oriented club located at Gilligan Reserve on Millett Road. We’re a welcoming and inclusive club that doesn’t discriminate on membership – everyone, regardless of background, gender, race, age, or ability, is welcome to enjoy tennis with us.
We’re a fully digital club: membership renewals, court bookings, and club notices are all handled online, and our courts use a smart locking system integrated with our website – making it easy to book a court and get playing.
Facilities
Our club is home to six lit courts – four synthetic and two Plexipave, so you can play well into the evening. All courts are secured with a smart locking system integrated with our website, making bookings simple and secure.
We also have a sheltered area with a free electric BBQ, perfect for a post-match catch-up with friends and family.
The Committee
South Gisborne Tennis Club is run entirely by volunteers, with a committee made up of five executive positions and General Committee Members working together to keep the club running.
President
Keeps the club running and is accountable for the decisions of appointed committee members.
Vice President
Supports the President in running the club, and takes on the President’s responsibilities – including accountability for decisions, in their absence.
Secretary
Sends out meeting notices, provides general information to members, and manages nominations for committee positions ahead of the AGM.
Treasurer
Responsible for the club’s financial wellbeing, including budget management, cash flow, monthly account reviews, accurate record-keeping, and identifying income sources.
Membership Officer
Tracks membership information and payments, promotes the club to prospective members, and manages corporate membership signage requirements.
General Committee
Supports the executive committee across events, facilities, and day-to-day club operations.

Volunteers
South Gisborne Tennis Club is run entirely by volunteers who share a passion for tennis. Throughout the year, our committee may ask members for support and time to help maintain the club and run events. Participation is always optional, but every contribution – big or small – is genuinely appreciated.
